PHOBOS IR @ 10 o'clock (12/18/97)

View as you enter the PHOBOS Interaction Region ("spectrometer-side"). In the foreground is a full scale mock-up of the PHOBOS magnet with a box indicating the approximate extent of the spectrometer rails and silicon electronics drawn in chalk on the floor. Also visible are the beam line and a multiplicity counter. In the background can be seen how the PHOBOS IR increases in size at the opening of the RHIC tunnel.

Closer view of the magnet mock-up including a scale-size pole tip on the far side. Two large air vents on the outer wall must be worked around in the final layout of the PHOBOS apparatus.

Closer view of the air vent on the spectometer-side. The cross-hatched region indicates the extent of the vent enclosure. The location of the second TOF wall section on the outer side is drawn on the floor (the first TOF wall section sits inside the magnet manifold).

View from spectrometer-side down along the outer wall. The location of the second and third TOF wall sections are marked on the floor. (Presently, the third TOF wall section is not funded).

View along the outer wall from the opposite direction showing the possible locations for TOF and trigger electronics racks. Again, the second and third TOF wall sections are marked on the floor, and the cross-hatched region indicates the extent of the vent enclosure.
