Summary
RHIC allows us to create extraordinary states of matter.
The 4 RHIC experiments each address important and complementary physics issues.
PHOBOS, one of the two smaller detectors at RHIC, is a relatively simple experiment which will undertake a sensitive search for events with unusual fluctuations in their global properties of multiplicity and angular distributions of charged particles.
PHOBOS construction started in 1996 and PHOBOS will be on-line when RHIC delivers the first Au beams in early 2000.
