Experiment Em-12
Jumping Ring
Description:
In this experiment, an aluminum ring is placed around an iron rod that is protruding
from a large inductor. When the inductor is connected to an AC power source
the ring jumps up into the air. When the ring is replaced with one that
has a small gap in it, that ring does not jump into the air.
This
is a picture of the ring as it is jumping off of the iron rod.
