Experiment Ec-06
Electrostatic Ping-Pong
Description: A
ping-pong ball, coated with silver conducting paint, is suspended between two
metal conducting plates, which are attached to a Wimshurst machine. When the machine
is started, the ball will be attracted to one of the plates. Once it makes contact
with the plate and charge is transferred between the plate and the ball, it will
be repelled from that plate and be attracted to the other plate. The process
will repeat itself over and over.
