• The humanist view of science can be found in the writings of poets and novelists while, and well after, these concepts were developed. For example

  • The science academy of Lagoda in Swift.
  • The caricature of Leibniz in Candide.
  • The rejection by Lawrence of the seemingly preposterous vision of reality proposed by Schrödinger and Heisenberg.

• The scientific ideas, and the reactions to them, will be explored by the students.

• Students are expected to write short papers with the results of literary analyses, explanations of important scientific ideas, etc.
