PHOBOS Cosmic Ray Test Setup

PHOBOS TOF cosmic-ray test setup. This test setup consists of two PHOBOS TOF scintillator slats, each consisting of 4 scintillators, mounted in the horizontal plane perpendicular to each other, and one small start detector, clearly visible on top. Events in which the start detector and each of the scintillator slats fire are collected and recorded on disk for off-line analysis. The event rate is about 1 per minute.

Some of the key people involved in the cosmic-ray tests. On the left-hand side Ray Teng is keeping track of pertinent details of our setup while Adam Hayes is studying the electronics. On the right-hand side Robert Pak is managing the data acquisition and waiting for the next cosmic ray to arrive.
