Physic motivation behind TOF
The Phobos spectrometer uses momentum and energy loss measurements to distinguish particles.
To understand the physics in an model-independent manner, a TOF wall was designed to have a timing resolution of 100ps or better, which will double the momentum region over which particles can be identified.
