Experiment Se-01
Resonance Tube
Description: A
tuning fork is mounted above a glass tube. The water level in the tube can be
adjusted by moving the water reservoir up and down. The tuning fork produces
a strong resonance when the length of the air column is an odd multiple of a
quarter wavelength of the fork. If the frequency of the fork is known, the velocity
of the sound may be calculated from the known frequency and the measured wavelength.
Setup
of the resonance tube.
Close
up of the top of the resonance tube.
