Experiment Se-01

Resonance Tube

Description: A tuning fork is mounted above a glass tube. The water level in the tube can be adjusted by moving the water reservoir up and down. The tuning fork produces a strong resonance when the length of the air column is an odd multiple of a quarter wavelength of the fork. If the frequency of the fork is known, the velocity of the sound may be calculated from the known frequency and the measured wavelength.
