Coupled Pendulums
Description: Three
identical pendulums are hung on a support which is slightly flexible. One pendulum
is started and the energy is slowly passed to the others. The energy transfer
will go through several cycles.
This can also be shown using another setup. Two identical pendulums are hung
on a support and joined by a spring. Once again, starting one pendulum in motion
will result in a slow energy transfer to the other pendulum. This energy transfer
will also cycle.
