Bicycle Wheel
Description: This
experiment demonstrates conservation of angular momentum about a vertical
axis. A bicycle wheel is mounted on good bearings so that it spins about
its axis. A person sits or stands on a freely rotating platform while holding
the rapidly spinning bicycle wheel. By turning the wheel over, the person
receives angular velocity in the opposite direction of the spinning wheel.
