Experiment Mr-01

Rolling Uphill

Description: A 'V' shaped wooden rail system is supported so that the open end of the 'V' is higher than the closed end.  A double cone is cut at an angle so that as the cone rolls on the rails its center of mass is lowered.  The cone will roll uphill if the center of mass is lowered faster than the rail system can raise it.

Setup of the 'V' and double cone.

Double cone rolling up the 'V' incline.

Materials: 'V' incline, double cone
