Hand Cranked Centrifuge
Description: Test
tube holders are pivoted on the ends of a horizontal bar which can be made to
rotate by hand cranking. The angle of the test tubes changes with rotation
rate.
Setup
of crank and test tubes.
Suspensions, such as pond
water, may be placed in the test tubes to show the effects of the pressure gradients
across the test tubes due to the acceleration. The same separation may be compared
with a separation done by the gravitational pressure gradient of gravity.

Materials: Hand
crank, test tube holder, test tubes, pond water (or other solution(s))
