Rolling and Sliding Friction
Description: A
skate board is pulled across the lecture table so that it can roll or slide. The
required force can be read on a large dial balance. This experiment will show
that sliding friction is greater than rolling friction.
The
skateboard may rolled, as shown above, which requires little force.
The
skateboard may be slid, which requires more work than rolling.
