Force of Friction
Description: A
dial balance is connected to a wooden block that is pulled across a tabletop.
The block can be turned on different edges to show the independence of frictional
forces on area. The blocks can be stacked and pulled by the bottom block to show
the effects of changes in mass. A second block with a different surface (such
as sandpaper) can be used to show the effects of different materials in the area
of contact between the table and the block.
