Experiment Hh-04

Two Dimensional Kinetic Motion

Description: A commercially made device, which simulates random state assignments, is set up on the lecture bench and leveled. After the motor is turned on, ball bearings are loaded in the tubing above the motor. The balls will roll down the plane into one of the chutes. After several ball bearings have passed through the device, the number of balls in the chutes. will be close to the Gaussian distribution. If the distribution is skewed, the machine is probably not leveled.

Machine with one ball bearing in the chutes.
