Jumping Wire


Description: Two conducting cups are filled with mercury and a bent wire dips into each of them. The wire is in the field of a large magnet. When current is sent in the correct direction through the wire, the wire will jump out of the magnetic field.

 

 

 

 

Materials: strong permanent magnets, wire, mercury, conducting cups, current source
