Description: A
parallel-plate capacitor is charged. The plates are close, but separated enough
to insert slabs of dielectrics. When the dielectric slabs are inserted between
the charged plates, the electric charge remains constant, but the electric field
between the plates decreases. If the distance between the plates is constant,
the change in voltage is proportional to the change in the electric field between
the plates.
Setup
with a dielectric. The plates are attached to an electroscope..
Materials: Slabs
of various dielectric materials, electroscope, voltmeter, light, paralle-plate
capacitor, battery or other method of charging capacitor, wire
