Experiment Ed-01
Field and Voltage
Description: A
parallel-plate capacitor is built so the distance between the plates may be varied.
Once the capacitor is charged, the field is essentially constant between the plates.
One can then show (by connecting an electroscope to the plates) that the voltage
is proportional to the distance between the plates.
Setup.
An electroscope is connected to the plates of a parallel-plate capacitor.
To show the movements of the leaves of the electroscope, a projector can be
setup as shown in the image.
Materials: Electroscope,
variable distance parallel-plate capacitor, wires, projector (for showing movements
of capacitor)
