Electrostatic Charges

Description: Triboelectric effects are used to define the signs of charges. A glass rod rubbed with silk will get a positive charge; an ebonite rod rubbed with cat's fur will get a negative charge. The components should be kept in a dessicator to keep them dry. There are many other materials from which one can obtain charges due to triboelectric charges, such as lucite and mylar.
