Chapter 6. Diamagnetism: Change in Dipole Moment
In diamagnetic materials, the presence of an external magnetic field will change the speed of the orbital electrons, and thus the dipole moment associated with this orbital motion.
The change in the dipole moment will be opposite to the direction of the external magnetic field.
