• Consider a charge q located above a grounded conducting plane:

  • The electrostatic potential on the plane is 0: V(x,y,0)=0.
  • The charge distribution on the grounded plane is NOT zero.
  • The electrostatic potential can not be calculated directly without knowing the charge distribution.
