In three dimensions there are an infinite number of ways to get from a to b.
In general, the line integral of a vector function will depend on the path chosen.
However, the line integral of the gradient of a scalar function T will be independent of the path chosen:
- The line integral of the gradient of T depends only on a and b:
- The line integral of the gradient of T around a closed loop is zero:
